Riverside County Fire officials reported the Silver Fire as still just 25 percent contained today, but no further evacuations were announced. A damage inspection team will continue working to determine the exact number and type of structures damaged or destroyed by the fire.
The fire has now covered 16,000 acres. More than 1,600 firefighters are fighting the blaze in an area south of Banning. Both sides of Interstate 10 are open.
