All lanes of southbound Interstate 15 are now cleared and open following an early morning traffic accident involving several vehicles near the truck scales in the Rainbow community.
According to CHP records, officers and emergency vehicles responded to a multiple-car pileup about 5:35 a.m. Initial reports indicated four vehicles were involved in a crash in the middle lanes. One vehicle landed on its roof and one car was sitting on top of another.
Subsequent reports indicated six or more vehicles were involved in the incident. A SigAlert was issued and traffic backed up past the 15-215 split in Murrieta.
Lanes were cleared and the SigAlert lifted about 7:30 a.m. At least one injury was reported but no further details were available.
