Youth volunteers had a good time while doing some hard work at Kabian Park in last year's clean-up.
More than 400 people are expected to participate Saturday in the second annual "Menifee Better Together" event, in which volunteers perform community clean-up and home maintenance duties at several locations in the city.

The event is supported by members of Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley, the City of Menifee, Menifee Interfaith and Community Service Council, Sun City Civic Association, Quail Valley Community Group and Verizon FIOS. Plans call for rehabilitation and clean-up projects at 28 homes in the Sun City community as well as clean-up in parts of Quail Valley, including Kabian Park.

Volunteers will assist in exterior home repairs, house painting, weed abatement, fence repair and other clean-up as needed. Additional volunteers will help beautify Kabian Park in Quail Valley.

Funds to support the project are being donated by Verizon FIOS and Riverside County Supervisor Marion Ashley. Volunteers for the home rehabilitation project will meet at the Sun City Civic Association at 8 a.m. and will return at 12:30 p.m. for lunch, check presentations and some closing comments from Mayor Scott Mann. Volunteers in Quail Valley will meet at Kabian Park to begin their project.

Volunteers 12 and over and invited to participate but must register at the start of the event.
