Heritage High School was on lockdown for about an hour this morning but the lockdown was lifted a few minutes ago, according to Jonathan Greenberg, superintendent of the Perris Union High School District.
Greenberg said a parent called the school saying she believed her son had taken a gun to school. The Sheriff's Department placed the school on lockdown as a safety precaution.
No gun was found in the student's possession and the parent called back to say all guns at the home were accounted for.
"We have a gun protocol and it was followed, " Grrenberg said. "The Sheriff's Department placed the lockdown and they lifted it when the school was declared safe."
