Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez and the Murrieta Firefighters Association will sponsor "Be the Match", a local effort this Friday, May 9, to donate to the national bone marrow registry.
Residents beteen the ages of 18 and 44 are invited to contribute to the registry through a simple cheek swab. Thousands of people with blood cancers such as leukemia and sickle cell anemia rely on a marrow transplant.
The event takes place at Melendez's office, located at 41391 Kalmia Street, Suite 30, in Murrieta. Donations will accepted from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lunch will be provided as a thank you for your participation.
