The Paloma Valley and Heritage high school football teams will try to continue their success in the second round of the CIF Southern Section playoffs tonight.

Paloma Valley (8-3) will play a 7 p.m. home game against Colony (7-4) High of Ontario, the No. 2 team from the Mt. Baldy League. Colony advanced to the second round with a 27-14 win over La Quinta last week.

The Wildcats stormed into the second round with a 22-3 victory over top-seeded Summit High last week. Although they finished Sunbelt League play 2-3, the Wildcats have dominated much of the opposition this year, outscoring opponents, 423-151.

Paloma's No. 1 threat on offense is running back David Solis, who has rushed for 1,580 yards and 20 touchdowns. Quarterback Brent Boehm has passed for 2,026 yards and 19 touchdowns. A solid defense is led by linebacker Richard Krottmayer and lineman Charlie Wallace.

Heritage, the Sunbelt League champion, will take a 10-1 record into tonight's 7 o'clock game against Arlington (7-4), the No. 3 team from the Inland Valley League, at Ramona High. Arlington advanced to the second round with a 29-7 victory over Chino.

Heritage advanced by defeating Palm Desert, 42-28. That game marked the return to action of running back Jamal Morrow, who rushed for 249 yards after sitting out much of the previous two games with a knee injury.
