Menifee's High School Football Teams Set to Start Practice

Menifee's high school football teams will prepare for the 2014 season with the opening of preseason practice next week.

Defending CIF Central Division champion Heritage High School will hold its first official practice Monday, Aug. 4. The Patriots are coming off a 13-1 season in which they defeated Rancho Verde 34-33 Dec. 8 for the school's first CIF title.

Coach Kraig Broach's team will open the regular season Aug. 29 at La Quinta.

Across town, Paloma Valley High School will open preseason practice this Friday, Aug. 1. The Wildcats were 10-2 last season, losing in the CIF quarterfinals to Kaiser, 41-35.

Santa Rosa Academy is preparing for its first full season of varsity play in the South Valley League. Under new head coach Bob Burt, the Rangers will open their season Sept. 5 at home against California School for the Deaf.
