Senator Bill Emmerson and Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez presented the group with a proclamation honoring the club, which began as the Sun City Rotary Club in 1963. The $65 a plate dinner and silent auction raised funds for the club, which performs service both in Menifee and around the world through Rotary International.
About 120 guests enjoyed a comedy show featuring Tom Wilson, best known for his role as Biff in the "Back to the Future" movies. Guests also contributed to local artist Luciano Paesani's latest community painting, which included the iconic Rotary Wheel and a likeness of Tom Carpenter, a charter member of the club who passed away last fall.
Rotary President Carol Sullivan presided over the event, which was coordinated by Rotary member Ruth Bol and the Too Much Tina Media and Marketing Group.
