A Menifee woman died Friday in a traffic accident on Antelope Road that involved five vehicles and closed a stretch of the road north of Scott Road for hours.
Emily Blake, 25, was pronounced dead on arrival at Inland Valley Medical Center, according to the Riverside County Coroner's office. According to authorities, she was the driver of a sedan that was struck head-on by another sedan. The accident was reported at 5:21 p.m. Two persons were reported trapped in vehicles when emergency crews arrived.
The Menifee Traffic Reconstruction Team responded and assumed the investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed that a Honda Civic was traveling southbound on Antelope Road. The vehicle crossed over the center lane and sideswiped a Hyundai Accent. This collision caused the southbound vehicle to lose control and collide with a second vehicle head-on. Two additional vehicles traveling northbound collided into each other while attempting to avoid the head-on collision.
The female juvenile driver of the Honda Civic was critically injured and transported to a regional hospital. Blake, the driver of the second vehicle in the head-on collision, was also transported to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. The female adult driver of another vehicle involved in the collision was transported to a hospital with minor injuries. The additional two drivers were uninjured.
The identities of the others drivers are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
This investigation is continuing and the Menifee Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding this incident, or anyone who may have witnessed the collision, to contact the Menifee Police Department Traffic Division, Deputy Cail, at 951-210-1000.
